Did Black People Cause White Privilege?

Did Black People Cause White Privilege?

Black people have been on the receiving end of White Privilege for such a long time. The whole idea of “white power” is to suppress the minority races. The whole point of having any power at all is to us it on someone.

What would be the point of buying a bicycle for your kids if they didn’t have some poor kids to look at them in envy?

White Power, therefore is a creation of the system; with the aim of showing minorities that they are inferior- putting them in their place.

What Is White Privilege?

Do you feel threatened when a white woman threatens to call the cops on you? Do you feel bad when you see a White Cop or vigilante shoot down an unarmed black man and get away with it?  Did you feel embarrassed when Donald Trump asked (demanded) to see Obama’s birth certificate “Personally?”

Whether or not you are aware, you know what White Privilege is. Nevertheless, there is a commonly used definition, which states that White Privilege is the societal advantage that unfairly treats white people better than black or nonwhite people, despite being in the same political, local, or financial situation.

White people can march on the Capitol; break down doors and windows and even kill a few people without any serious consequences. Nonwhite people would have been teargased, beaten and arrested before they could step foot on the grounds of the Capitol.

Now that we have made it clear what White Privilege is, we have to find a way to pin it on Black People. The following is a clever excuse that was found on social media.

“Black People Caused White Privilege”

Yes, incredible as it sounds but that is exactly how this writer saw it on one of those forums on the internet where he goes to rant about racism whenever he is bored. The proponent may have been a troll but his logic was that white privilege arose due to the high incidence of crime in black communities.

Which is why pen was put to paper, and you have this post to read.

This is not a particularly difficult notion to dismantle; we only have to look at history- the establishment of the biggest tool of White Privilege- the Police.

The police evolved from the Pattyrollers (alternatively called Paddy Rollers, Patrollers, or Patterollers) whose job was to catch runaway slaves, or to subdue those slaves who were seen as defiant.

The slave patrols were a creation of the slave owners who needed to curb the trend of slaves running off towards safety; which meant running off to the states where slavery was outlawed.

It was quite effective; the police did their job- until they had to be given a new job when the Civil War ended in favor of the anti-slavery Union.

The New Job Of The Police

With the war ended; the police resurfaced with the new job of protecting the former slave owners. If you spend a lifetime mistreating people and suddenly you find that they are no longer under your control, you tend to fear some form of retribution.

The police was therefore reorganized to police the movements of black people, especially in white neighborhoods. It was not very difficult to find men willing to do this sort of dirty work; former pattyrollers and former confederate soldiers were in need of work.

There you have it; Overseer was replaced with Officer- the beginnings of White Privilege.

White Privilege Today

With Overseer replaced with Officer- a man armed and protected by the law; White Privilege was given a legal backing, even a moral one.

Admittedly, there are so many things wrong with the black community as we have stated here. (link to street cred) There is a shortage of work, and perhaps an even bigger shortage of people to do the work. The black community is choked with crime; gangsters, robbery, theft, drugs, prostitution et all.

But the black people did not choose this life; it was forced upon them. No young man wants to be a gangster, and no lady wants to be a prostitute. They only do it because they think they have no choice.

They have no choice because they cannot fight the system; it is bigger than them. White Privilege was here before any of us was born, and it will most likely continue to be here even after we are gone.

And yet we have to look it in the eyes and tell the truth to it. Not for our sakes, but for our children’s.

No, Black People Have Nothing To Do With White Privilege

Black people did not cause or invent white privilege; we had nothing to do with it. Black people cannot be held responsible for the fear that gripped the former slave owners in the old days; that is purely fabricated from their own sense of guilt.

There is nothing in the records to suggest that such retribution was coming; black people must have been occupied with rebuilding (building actually) their lives, looking for where to live, and finding sustenance.

Even today, the majority of black people remain occupied with looking for how to pay the rent, how to put food on the table, and how to provide good clothes for their children.

They would prefer not to be shot and killed by white policemen; but what can we do about that?!

What Can You Do To Help?

If you have a business, please consider giving us jobs. Not disproportionately; that would amount to requesting special favors which would then be a kind of Black Privilege. We don’t expect that the world would be a better place if white privilege was replaced with black privilege.

Therefore all we ask is that you give us a fair chance. Make sure that we are competent for the position, and then give us a shot.

Help teach the young ones in your neighborhood to stay out of trouble. We have explained the relationship between the police and white privilege as an institution. As a people we need to stay away from trouble so that we can collectively change the perception of black people as troublemakers. Besides, troublemakers get killed- we don’t want that.
